It was another successful year for the Riverview 4 on 4 hockey tournament held February 7th and 8th at the Riverview Community Centre. This year the tournament hosted a total of 19 teams. Friday night got rolling with a dozen games despite the cold temperatures. Post game, the beer gardens were once again a popular destination for players and spectators. Catching up and sharing stories of tournaments past is always a highlight of the weekend.

Saturday was a busy day with games starting at 9:30 a.m. and finishing up at around 7:00 p.m. The club was packed with members of the community, cheering on friends and family. The day wrapped up with an open division final game that didn’t disappoint. “The Handsome Devils” defeated “The CringPitts” 3-2 in overtime. “One for Rouge” took the win in the 35+ division and “The Caribou” took the title in the Legends division.

The Winterfest social that was held on Saturday night was well attended and everyone had a great time. All profits from the social, the beer garden, and food sales went directly to the Riverview Community Centre.

The Winning Team the Handsome Devils

Year after year this tournament is successful thanks to countless volunteers. A huge thank you to everyone who donated their time. First on the list is Vico Fabri. He steps up year after year to ref more than his fair share of games. Thanks to Dave Taylor, Virgi Fabri, Brad Ewankiw, Ryan Rolston and many more for helping out as refs. Thanks to Tyler Brown and Kaden Alsip who helped with the ice, timekeeping, and even reffed some of then Legends division games, including the championship. Ian McGowan took home the golden boot. Throughout the weekend Ian helped out where ever needed.
