On the heels of the province announcing that code red restrictions will continue into the new year, many are wondering what’s happening at the club. Here is a bit of an update:
- The RVCC remains closed to the public for now.
- The RVCC continues to rent out the kitchen to small business food processors who need to produce their product in a licensed commercial kitchen. These businesses are essential services and permitted to continue operating.
- To make good use of the closure, the RVCC will use the time to move forward with the next phase of renovations. This phase will convert a couple of underutilized dressing rooms into a multipurpose meeting room space. This meeting space will still be able to function as dressing rooms when needed.
- In addition to this renovation, the RVCC was also approved for funding to upgrade the outdoor security lighting on the building. This will provide much-needed visibility to the exterior of the building, which will help deter vandalism.
- Rink flooding is on hold for now. Per public health orders, all outdoor rinks are to remain closed while in code red.
- Cross country ski trail grooming is also on hold for now… because there is no snow! Volunteers are waiting (somewhat) patiently to begin grooming for the season. This effort is completely volunteer-driven and funded by the RVCC. If you use the trails, please thank the volunteers if you see them out working on the trails and consider a donation to the RVCC.
Lastly, the RVCC has been working hard on a revamped communication plan to better inform the neighbourhood about the happenings in the area.
Look for the resumption of the Riverview Reflector this holiday season with a special year-end issue. It will feature a collection of community news stories from 2020.
These stories were previously published in the Riverview CC blog that was launched in the Spring. The blog aims to share interesting news and stories that are relevant to the Riverview community. If you’ve got a story you’d like to share with the community, please contact gm@riverviewcc.ca.
For more community “classifieds” oriented posts, the RVCC is refreshing the South Osborne Bugle. Community members will now be able to create their own posts on the RVCC website – creating a virtual community news bulletin! To view the Bugle and see what criteria is eligible to be posted, click HERE.
Highlights from both the community news blog and the South Osborne Bugle will be included in Riverview CC’s biweekly e-newsletter. To subscribe to the newsletter, please click HERE.
For the quickest updates, you can also follow the RVCC on Instagram @riverviewcc and on Facebook.
Please let us know what you think of the changes. We’d love to hear from you!
