Frozen Lego figures scattered throughout the neighbourhood are a part of a larger initiative by the Riverview Ashland Childcare Centre to keep the community healthy.
The daycare has been awarded a grant as a part of the new government program, Safe at Home MB. The program supports organizations helping Manitobans lead healthy, active lifestyles during community restrictions.
Daycare staff are creating programming to help engage the Riverview community through remote led video activities focusing on crafts, nutrition, and storytelling. So far they have released a series of cooking videos, a Christmas story with Mary Barton, and a community Lego scavenger hunt.
There are 12 frozen Lego figures scattered throughout the neighbourhood. The day care’s website has a full list of all the clues and locations in case you run into any trouble. Here’s the first clue:
“Among the birds and flowers where great stories are told,
A lovely garden with the tiny vibrant fence.
Find me there and your next clue will unfold.
Hurry, your journey is about to commence!”
In addition, the daycare has been making care packages for the Riverview Health Centre. A Christmas delivery has already been made, and they are now hard at work on a valentines day basket full of activities and hot-cold compresses, plus an Easter basket for March. The items in the packages are sourced from local businesses, further supporting the community.
