Research study: “Connections Matter: Fostering social connectedness in youth to optimize mental health and well-being” at the University of Manitoba. The COVID-19 pandemic has had detrimental effects on youth’s social connectedness. The fall-out from this is expected to be felt for years to come, resulting in a sustained negative impact on the mental health and well-being of youth. Using interviews and arts-based methods, the goal of our study is to learn about how youth in grades 6-8 connect with their friends, family, teachers, school, and community. What we learn will help us improve their social connections, their mental health and wellness.
