Short Story Workshop:
Have you written a short story (fiction or memoir)? Are you ready to take it to the next level? Perhaps you have already discovered people you care about, in a time and a place that interests you, who have discovered problems worth pondering.
If you’ve written their story but aren’t ready to be done with them yet, this class offers you the opportunity to explore new strategies for bringing that world and those characters to vivid life for your readers, in a supportive environment.
Is it too long? Not long enough? Too silly? Not funny enough? We all have questions when we write. So whether you’re wondering about beginnings or endings, flashbacks or fantasies, setting the right mood or getting the right “camera angle,” enroll in this ten-week writing workshop to discuss your goals and challenges as a writer, get feedback, and learn from from short stories by other writers (class members and published authors), while finding your own voice and style as a writer. See what can happen when you give your short story the time and attention it deserves.
Testamonial:
“Here’s to all the poets and the writers! And here’s to the coaches and instructors (that
would be you Lesley) who create the spaces for our voices to be heard! Thank you for
bringing such a joyful attitude to your work with our group.”
– Donna Marion (participant in the spring 2019 creative writing class for mature adults at RVCC)
