With the incredible support of Tree Canada and The Brick, the Sustainable South Osborne Community Co-op have been awarded a grant for $3,500 which will enable them to expand the orchard and replace trees that have been lost.

50 berry bushes and 30 fruit trees will be planted in late August and early September. SSOCC will be planting more Haskap and Currant bushes and adding Saskatoon and Hazelnuts to their existing varieties. Additional apple, pear and cherry trees will fill out empty spots.

SSOCC will be spreading these plantings out across their various sites adding more fruit trees and shrubs to their People Garden and Lord Roberts Gardens – growing the orchard throughout the neighbourhood. Look for these new additions when out volunteering or enjoying the beauty of our spaces!
