RVCC 2023 Mini Soccer
Registration Open Until March 15th
WELCOME TO MINI SOCCER
Mini soccer is open to all children aged 3 to 8. There is no requirement to have any previous skills or experience with soccer. Mini soccer is primarily focused on ensuring players have fun while learning some basic soccer skills. Mini soccer is licensed and sanctioned by the Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA).
Riverview Community Centre will supply the jerseys, soccer balls, and nets. In terms of equipment, each child will need:
- Proper footwear (Running Shoes or Cleats); and
- Shin Pads and Soccer Socks (required for 6,7,8; not required for younger children)
Program Overview
U3 and U4/5 programs:
The U3 division is a very basic introduction to soccer. Parents may be required to participate more actively to help their child and the coach. At the U4/U5 level, the players will develop basic soccer skills (i.e. dribbling, passing, and shooting).
These sessions are designed to provide all players with multiple opportunities to touch the ball in a fun and positive environment. The majority of each session will be fun games (mostly with a soccer ball), followed by a short scrimmage against another Riverview team (3 v 3; no goalie).
U6, U7, and U8 Program:
Basic soccer techniques are developed and team skills are introduced. Teams play either 4 v 4 or 5 v 5, with a goalie. The U6, U7, and U8 year old teams travel to play teams at Wildwood, Fort Garry, and Lord Roberts.
Mini Soccer Schedule (all games are at 6pm)

Important Dates:
There will be a coaches/team managers meeting in mid-April (details to follow).
The 2023 mini soccer season will run from April 24 (weather/field conditions permitting) until the end of June.
Coaching:
The mini soccer program relies on volunteer coaches. Coaching is a great way to become involved in the community and be part of your child’s growth within a sport. Do not be afraid if you are unfamiliar with soccer – we will provide resources and materials to help you run a practice. Lastly, coaching is a great way to fulfill your volunteer bond requirement.
Because we are sanctioned by MSA, coaches need to obtain the following (all of this is paid for by the club; there is no cost to the coaches):
– Criminal record check and child abuse registry check (both must have been completed within the past 36 months)
– Respect in Sport for Activity Leader
– Active Start (if coaching U3, U4/5, or U6)
– FUNdamentals (if coaching U7 or U8)
Registration and Cost
Total Cost: $76 ($60 to Riverview Community Club plus a $16 licensing fee paid to MSA).
Registration period: open until March 15, 2023. There will be a late fee of $20 after March 15.
How to Register:
Step 1: You will first need to register as a player with Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) and pay your $16 Licensing fee HERE. At the end of this process, you will receive an email receipt confirming payment with the MSA. In this email, there will be links to the various soccer clubs in Manitoba, IGNORE THESE LINKS, as they aren’t applicable to your mini players. Move to Step 2.
Step 2: Once you are done Step 1, you will need to finalize your registration at Riverview Community Centre HERE. The cost is $60. Register per the age division outlined above. Select your volunteer role: Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Manager. Identify any allergies or other important information in the Comment Section.
Step 3: As you register through our registration system in step 2, you will notice that you are required to pay into our community centre’s volunteer bond. This will place a hold on your credit card, which will require you to pay the $150 bond if you have not completed your six hours of volunteering after one year. These volunteer hours can be completed by multiple family members and can be completed through any volunteer role with the community centre. You can read more about the volunteer bond HERE. You will report all your volunteer hours to the mini-soccer convener.
